Sarah Deramo

Coach Sarah is a strong community leader dedicated to increasing engagement and building community relationships. Her determination, organizational skills, and strategic approach have molded the program structure and continue to drive program growth!​

​

Experience includes:

  • Basketball coach for 10+ years including elementary-middle school, recreational, and competitive travel; Programs include University Liggett  School, Duke Ellington DPSCD, & MADE Student Athletics.

  • Successful program developer in areas of leadership development, mentorship, restorative practices, and conflict resolution; Owner of Aktivate Detroit, AM Enrichment, and other youth-based enrichment programs

  • Event coordinator for sports leagues, tournaments, and community engagement initiatives including Urban Roundball Classic, The 3v3 Mix-Up and other events.

Michael Matthews

Years dedicated to AMF: 5

Coach Mike is a passionate mentor and role model. His expertise and love for basketball and youth development have paved the way for his coaching success. Coach Mike takes a patient, x's and o's approach to the game!

​

Experience includes:

  • Basketball coach for 16+ years including elementary-high school, recreational, & competitive travel; Programs include Orchard Lake St. Mary, Gabriel Richard, University Liggett

  • 7+ year of experience as a mentor and leadership development instructor; Programs include Winning Futures Mentoring, Neighborhood Legal Services for Detroit Public School District, and AMF Grub Club.

  • Member of Board of Disabilities Council of Michigan.

Lead Instructor | Skills Trainer

Eboni Brown

Years dedicated to AMF: 5

Coach Eboni is a dedicated trainer and fundamental specialist. Her love for basketball and giving nature keep her invested in the development of all players. Coach Eboni's is a game and skill analyst, making her a dynamic part of the team!

​

Experience includes:

  • Basketball coach for 7+ years including elementary-high school, recreational, & competitive travel; Programs include Martin Luther King HS, Eastpointe MS, and AM Visionaries.

  • Lead summer school program instructor for Leadership in Sports for 3 years.

  • Dedicated basketball skills trainer and owner of FearNone Training.

     Strength & Conditioning  Leader | Game Day Operations Supervisor

    Vincent Todd Jr.

    Years dedicated to AMF: 4

    Coach Vince is a passionate leader specializing in conditioning, discipline, and strength development. His love for youth and his endless energy contributes to the order and maintenance of basketball operations. Coach Vince is willing to play whatever role is necessary to keep the program on track for success!

    ​

    Experience includes:

    • Basketball coach for 4+ years including elementary-high school, recreational, & competitive travel; Programs include Burns DPSCD, Chandler Park Academy, and AM Visionaries.

    • 3 years of referee experience.

      General Instructor | Character Classroom Leader

      Eric Thompson Jr.

      Years dedicated to AMF: 4

      ​

      Coach Eric "E" is a motivated basketball instructor as well as an author, poet, and artist.  He has written youth affirmation books and takes his motivational speaking into classroom. Coach Eric's creativity and communication skills add to the program's character-first approach!

      ​

      Experience includes:

      • Basketball coach for 8+ years including high school & recreational; Programs include Clintondale HS and Duke Ellington DPSCD.

      • Author of Affirmations for Girls & Boys, Blame it on the Music, & Emotional Black Guy.

      • Lead instructor of the Creative Express Program.

      • TED X Detroit speaker for 2023.
