Where Food Meets Mentorship!
The Grub Club is a mentorship program for young men residing in Detroit, ages 13-17, seeking male guidance, financial & business literacy, life skills, peer-to-peer social engagement, and powerful dining experiences.
The program serves 15-20 members each year and offers a 3-day experience every month, starting in April.
Monthly Meet Ups:
Day 1
Mentoring Session
Mentors & mentees meet up for meal and a mentoring session centered around goal setting, networking, self-awareness, social etiquette, communication, and other life skills.
Day 2
Financial Literacy Workshop
The Grub Club partners with financial institutions to provide a full curriculum filled with lessons around financial literacy. In 2025 Comerica Bank taught our mentees through the Money $ense Workshop!
Day 3
Mentor Dinner
The club travels to local restaurants to experience in-person dining and demonstrate social skills in public settings. On their trips they try new cuisines, build relationships, and learn, first-hand, from restaurant owners, what it takes to run a successful business. Our 2025 sponsoring restaurants included: Gilbert's Lodge, Ferlito's Family Restaurant, Jacoby's German Biergarten, Crazy Gringo Cantina, and Zestia Greek Street Food.
